With over 255 registered attendees, 21 sponsors and close to 60 exhibitors, the SERDC/TRC Conference was deemed a smashing success! Held at the Radisson Opryland in Nashville, the conference provided numerous well attended sessions on everything from specific issues/initiatives related to commodities and market trends, to education and outreach, sustainable models for businesses, international markets, energy independence, green building, C&D efforts, electronics, model curbside programs, leveraging partnerships, and much more! Bill Heenan of the Steel Recycling Institute entertained and invigorated us as the keynote speaker, while Chaz Miller of NSWMA closed the meeting with an enlightening presentation of the progress made since the garbage barge---where we have been since that historic event, as well as the reality of challenges that lay ahead. The Awards Breakfast held on the last day recognized and honored exemplary Tennessee programs as well as three programs of excellence awarded by SERDC.
