9:30 am to 1:30 pm Recycling 101 and 102 (Lunch Provided)

A workshop designed for those who are new to recycling or desire information on how to start or expand a program. 

Topics covered:

  • Definitions of recycling terms
  • Examples of common recyclable material
  • Collection
  • Processing
  • Selling recyclable
  • Community demographics
  • Examples of statewide programs
  • Funding sources
  • Question and Answer period with presenters

Participants must pre-register for the workshop.  The $75 fee includes educational materials and lunch.


12:00 pm to 1:30 pm Make and Take Rain Barrel Workshop

New this year to the TRC Conference is a make and take workshop.  The Cumberland River Compact will be on-site to host a rain barrel construction workshop.  Participants will learn about storm water abatement strategies, use and care of rain barrels, and will make their own rain barrel to take home.  CRC will also detail information about hosting rain barrel workshops including sourcing the drums and hardware, promoting the events, as well as administrative details like insurance requirements. 

 

Participants must pre-register for the workshop.  The $45 fee includes one rain barrel.  Additional barrels may be purchased on-site for $35.

Get ready to play! This hands-on workshop will demonstrate the basics of caring for these wiggly creatures. Learn to teach the residents of your community vermi-composting as an interesting method of waste reduction. Four lucky participants will win a vermi-composting bin, complete with worms, to take home. Sign up at the registration desk.

 

(2) Hands-On  Commodities Workshop

In this fun, hands-on workshop our experts will help you understand the grading and sorting for metals, glass, paper, and plastic.  For good measure our experts will also dispel many myths surrounding the commodities.  Sign up at the registration desk.
